Member Identification Program

Logo Use Rules

What is The Member Identification Program? The MIP is a program that allows participating member businesses to identify themselves with the BBB by using the authorized BBB name and/or logo in their advertising (i.e. Yellow Pages, Business Directories, newspapers, other print advertising, and business stationery, upon prior BBB approval).

Who is Eligible?

  • Any business or organization which is a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau and has been established for one year, or more, is eligible to participate.
  • In order to participate, a business must sign an agreement with its local Bureau which indicates that it is "pre-committed to arbitration". This simply means that if a consumer complaint against the business cannot be resolved through normal Bureau conciliation, the case will be turned over to an impartial arbitrator whose decision in the matter will be binding.

Why Participate?

  • Canadian consumers are aware of the Better Business Bureau system. By using the BBB name and/or logo, you are associating your business with an organization which Canadians both know and trust.
  • Displaying the authorized BBB name and/or logo immediately identifies your firm as a supporter of the Better Business Bureau, and thus a supporter of the ethical standards and practices associated with the BBB system. Your customers can have the confidence that you are willing to subject your performance to an independent third party.
  • The authorized BBB name and/or logo symbolizes your commitment to binding arbitration, which further demonstrates to consumers your dedication to fair business practices.
